ZHANG Jun: China Supports Colombia Peace Process

On April 14, the Security Council held a video conference on Colombia situation and was briefed by SRSG Massieu and Mr. David Cano from civil society. Foreign Minister Claudia Brum of Colombia participated in the meeting. Ambassador ZHANG Jun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations delivered remarks at the meeting.

Ambassador ZHANG Jun said, China appreciates the commitment by Colombia Government to the Peace Agreement and the progress made, and welcome the work done by the UN Verification Mission in Colombia. China supports the Colombia Government’s efforts on reintegration, in particular the incorporation of peace elements in the national and local development agendas. The impact of the COVID-19 on the implementation of the Peace Agreement should be monitored. China has donated anti-epidemics medical supplies to Colombia, and will continue to offer its help in the future.

Ambassador ZHANG Jun said, China will always stand by the Colombia Government and People, and work together with them to achieve lasting peace, stability and prosperity of Colombia.
