2019-12-09 01:10

Regarding the recent concern that the world will witness a great fracture, on December 9, Ambassador Zhang Jun, Permanent Representative of China to the UN, stated China's position and reiterated China's firm commitment to multilateralism.

Ambassador Zhang said that the international community is faced with multiple challenges. Unilateralism, protectionism and bullying behaviors have severely undermined multilateralism, disrupted international rule of law, created confrontations, and harmed mutual trust and friendship among peoples. Many people of vision are worried that the world will see a great fracture, and the international community is at a crossroads.

Ambassador Zhang asked whether the world wants multilateralism or unilateralism, unity or division, cooperation or confrontation, progress or regress. On such major issues of principle, China's attitude is very clear. China firmly stands by multilateralism, stands with the vast majority of UN members, stands for fairness and justice and sides with the trend of the times. Countries share the same world and a common future. China will always be a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of international order, and will work towards a community of a shared future for mankind.
