Ambassador Liu Zhenmin Briefs Students and Faculty of Fairleigh Dickinson University on China and Its Role in the World

On 18 November 2009, Ambassador Liu Zhenmin, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Chinese Mission, delivered a lecture at the Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey, at the invitation of Ambassador Ahmad Kamal, President of the Ambassadors’ Club at the United Nations, and former Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN. He briefed the students and faculty on China and its role in international affairs, and answered questions from Ambassador Kamal and the audience .

  

During his interaction with Ambassador Kamal, Ambassador Liu touched on issues such as China's social system, the mutual understanding between China and the US, misperceptions of the American people on China, China-US trade frictions, China's foreign exchange reserves, disputes and dialogue between China and other countries on human rights, and the Taiwan elements in China-US relations.

 

 

In the Q&A session, Ambassador Liu answered questions on China's overseas investment, mistakes and self-correction of the policies at the early stages of the People's Republic of China, US President's visit to China, climate change, the Korean war, China's efforts to improves people's livelihood, etc.
