On 19 November 2009, a photo exhibition entitled "Our Children, Our World", co-sponsored by the Chinese Mission to the UN and Xinhua News Agency, was launched at the UN Headquarters in New York. Ambassador Zhang Yesui, Permanent Representative of the Chinese Mission, delivered opening remarks at the event.

Ambassador Zhang Yesui said, "Protection, welfare and education of children are extremely meaningful undertakings. Much of our efforts today, including our efforts for economic and social development, environmental and ecological protection and public health endeavors, are to a great extent aimed at our future generations, so that they grow in a peaceful, secure and healthy environment. Tomorrow will be the Universal Children's Day and the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The "Global News Day for Children" celebrations, co-sponsored by Xinhua News Agency and the UNICEF,  intend to draw international attention to the importance of the welfare, protection and education of children, and to boost international exchanges and cooperation for children. I take this opportunity to thank Xinhua News Agency and the UNICEF for the efforts that they have put into this celebration event to make it possible."

Mr. Zeng Hu, Acting Chief of North America Regional Bureau of Xinhua News Agency, and Mr. Saad Houry, Deputy Executive Director of the UNICEF, also  addressed the opening ceremony.
