On 12 January 2011, H. E. Wang Min, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, signed an agreement with Mr. Jun Yamazaki, Assistant-Secretary-General and Controller of the United Nations and, on behalf of the Chinese Government, donated one million US dollars towards the UN's Capital Master Plan, the renovation project of the Headquarters. The donation will be used to renovate the lobby in front of General Assembly Hall.

Ms. Angela Kane, UN Under-Secretary-General for Management, and Mr. Michael Adlerstein, Assistant-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the Capital Master Plan, attended the signing ceremony. On behalf of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Ms. Kane thanked the Chinese Government for its strong support to the work of the United Nations, particularly its Capital Master Plan.

The United Nations' Capital Master Plan, with a budget of 2 billion dollars, will last for 5 years and is expected to be completed at the end of 2013.
