The Chinese Mission to the UN Holds Reception to Mark the End of China's Rotating Presidency in the Security Council

On the evening of March 30, Ambassador Li Baodong, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for March, hosted a reception to mark the end of China's Presidency in the Security Council at the Chinese Mission. More than 300 people, including Ambassadors of Security Council members, representatives of the relevant countries, officials from the UN Secretariat, and journalists from mainstream media outlets stationed in the UN attended the reception.

    

The guests congratulated China on its successful, smooth and efficient performance during the month, and spoke highly of the role China had played as President of the Security Council, especially China's style of work marked by impartiality, pragmatism, transparency and high efficiency.

      

Under the rules of procedures of the Security Council, 15 Council members take turns to act as President of the Council, each for one month. As President of the Security Council for March, Ambassador Li Baodong chaired 33 formal or informal meetings and consultations. In March, the Council adopted five resolutions, issued one presidential statement, and the President of the Council issued several statements to the press.
