2012-06-27 00:29

Dear Guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good Evening.

Let me start by extending, on behalf of Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations, warm congratulations on the opening of Mr. Wang Linxu’s “Transcendental Image” Art Exhibition in New York.

The theme of this exhibition is “Transcendental Image”, which is a painting style initiated by Professor Wang Linxu. By introducing the world’s finest modern visual art elements to traditional Chinese water ink painting, this unique art form has accomplished the organic blending of Nature and art, humanity and science, and enabled traditional oriental art and Western impressionism to find a perfect converging point. “Transcendental Image” has thus had a huge impact on the Western art community and aroused keen interest and extensive acclaims.

Professor Wang Linxu is a renowned artist. He is also an ambassador for friendship between China and the rest of the world. Over the years, he has traveled extensively between China and many other countries. With art as the bridge, he has done a lot of effective work to promote cultural exchanges between China and other countries. His works, breaking the confines of tradition and absorbing all fine elements of other art styles, show his big heart and high artistic attainment. The art of “Transcendental Image” spearheaded by Professor Wang is a useful experiment of the way in which the Chinese culture introduces itself to the world. It has offered us a lot of food for thought as to how to promote the harmonious co-existence and common prosperity of different cultures. Hereby, I wish to offer my sincere thanks to Professor Wang for his effort.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our host today---the Asian Cultural Center. In recent years, the Center has staged a host of large cultural events including the Chinese New Year cultural shows, Chinese opera shows, Romantic Yunnan and Lectures of Masters, to name a few. These events have effectively quickened the steps of the Chinese culture to go global and boosted China-US friendly exchanges. I hope the Asian Cultural Center will host more cultural events as top-notch as this one to make fresh contributions to cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world.

In closing, I wish the “Transcendental Image” Art Exhibition a resounding success. Thank you.
