2020-02-20 12:30

On February 19, Ambassador Zhang Jun, in his capacity as incoming President of the Security Council for the month of March 2020, met with H.E. Mona Juul, the seventy-fifth President of the Economic and Social Council and Permanent Representative of Norway. They exchanged views on the work of the Security Council and ECOSOC.

Amb. Zhang briefed Amb. Juul on the Council’s tentative agenda for the month of March, and said that China would take this opportunity to uphold multilateralism, enhance the role of the UN, and promote communication and interaction between the Security Council and UN organs such as ECOSOC, to further contribute to international peace and development.

Amb. Juul said that reaffirming commitment to multilateralism is most opportune and important. She agreed on the need to enhance coordination among major UN organs and advance peace and security in parallel with development. She wished the Council’s work in March every success.
