On February 20, Ambassador Zhang Jun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, met with UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Somalia and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) James Swan. They exchanged views on the situation of Somalia and the work of UNSOM.

Special Representative Swan introduced recent situation of Somalia and the work of UNSOM, expressing appreciation for China’s support to UNSOM and to advance peace process in Somalia. Ambassador Zhang highly recognized efforts Special Representative Swan and UMSOM have made to promote peace and stability in Somalia and expressed the willingness to join hands with UNSOM in helping Somalia to move towards peace and development.
