He noted that Chinese has served as a vital channel for the UN to convey its ideals across the world, and has played a significant role in our collective endeavor for multilateralism. He called for keeping connected and united through the magic of language, replacing confrontation with dialogue, bridging differences with tolerance, and writing a new chapter of understanding and cooperation.

UN Under-Secretary-General Movses Abelian, Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua, Under-Secretary-General Xu Haoliang, and other guests spoke highly of the uniqueness and beauty of the Chinese language, and affirmed the important role that Chinese, as an official language of the UN, has played in the promotion of exchanges and mutual understanding among civilizations, and the important contribution it has made for multilateralism.

The commemorative event features poetry reading by diplomats and UN officials, including the Book of Poetry and A Short Song Ballad, and a poem composed by Deepseek for the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, as well as a choir performance “Jasmine Flower” by UN Singers. Apart from the event, an exhibition of Chinese characters featuring oracle bones, bronze, eaves tiles, and bamboo slips, as well as a VR experience brought the opportunity for the audience to enjoy the beauty of the Chinese language and friendship between civilizations.
