On March 23, Ambassador Dai Bing met virtually with David Shearer, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for South Sudan and Head of UNMISS.

Mr. Shearer introduced the situation in South Sudan and the latest progress in the work of UNMISS, highly appreciated China’s contribution to restoring stability and realizing development in South Sudan, spoke highly of the outstanding performance of Chinese peacekeepers and looked forward to China’s continued support for the work of UNMISS.

Ambassador Dai spoke highly of the efforts of UNMISS under the leadership of Mr. Shearer. He said that China will continue to support the work of UNMISS and has decided to donate 300,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to UN peacekeepers, which will be given priority to the mission areas in Africa, including UNMISS. China will continue to work with the international community to contribute to peace and development in South Sudan.
