On February 18, Ambassador Zhang Jun met with H.E. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, President of the 74th Session of the UN General Assembly. The two sides exchanged views on the work of the Security Council and the General Assembly.

Ambassador Zhang briefed Mr. Bande on the Council's tentative agenda for the month of March when China would assume the Presidency. He said that China would take this opportunity to uphold multilateralism, facilitate closer interaction and communication between the Security Council and the General Assembly and contribute to international peace and security.

Mr. Bande said that it is crucial to emphasize the importance of multilateralism as the United Nations is on course to celebrating its 75th anniversary. He expressed the hope that the Council would achieve positive results in the coming month, and reaffirmed his commitment to working with China during the 74th Session of the General Assembly.
