On February 25, Ambassador Zhang Jun, in his capacity as incoming President of the Security Council for the month of March 2020, met with H.E. Akuei Bona Malwal, Permanent Representative of South Sudan. They exchanged views on the situation of South Sudan.

Amb. Zhang briefed Amb. Mawal on the Council’s tentative agenda for the month of March, and said the formation of the revitalized transitional government of national unity is an important and encouraging development of South Sudan peace process, which meets the common expectations of the people of South Sudan and the international community. China offered congratulations on this.

Amb. Malwal expressed gratitude to China for actively promoting the peace process in South Sudan, appreciated China's important role in maintaining peace and stability in Africa, and wished China's presidency of Security Council a success.
