Ambassador Zhang Jun Had a Telephone Conversation with the New Permanent Observer of the International Committee of the Red Cross to the United Nations

On April 28, Ambassador Zhang Jun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, had a telephone conversation with Ms. Laetitia Courtois, the new Permanent Observer of the International Committee of the Red Cross to the United Nations.

Ambassador Zhang congratulated Ms. Courtois on her new post, and commended the International Committee of the Red Cross for the important role it played in promoting international humanitarian cooperation. He pointed out that combating the COVID-19 pandemic is the most important and urgent task of the international community. He expressed the hope that the International Committee of the Red Cross will further promote the humanitarian spirit, support multilateralism and make greater contribution to the fight against the pandemic.

Ms. Courtois spoke positively of the cooperation between the two sides and the fruitful results of China’s presidency of the Security Council in March. She talked about the work of the International Committee of the Red Cross in fighting against the pandemic, and expressed her willingness to further strengthen cooperation with China.
