Q: Thailand's Election Commission (EC) was reported to announce on December 23 that poll result of 93% of vote counting showed that People Power Party (PPP) won 228 seats of the 480-member House of Representatives. Chairman Samak Sundaravej of PPP declared victory of his party in the election and offered to invite other parties that were willing to cooperate to join in a coalition government. Do you have any comment?

A: We are glad to see Thailand's general election go smoothly. As a good neighbor of Thailand, we respect the choice of the Thai people. It is our sincere hope that Thailand could maintain political stability and social harmony, with the people there living a happy life, and that the strategic relations of cooperation between China and Thailand could continue to develop.
