Q: The UN Security Council adopted a new resolution on the Iranian nuclear issue on March 3. Do you have any comment? A: The purpose of Resolution 1803 adopted by the UN Security Council is not to punish Iran but to facilitate the resumption of talks, in a bid to activate a new round of diplomatic efforts. China hopes that resolutions of the UN Security Council and IAEA could be fully implemented in real earnest manner. Diplomatic negotiation is the best option for the resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue. Foreign Ministers of China, the US, Russia, UK, France and Germany have issued a joint statement, pledging to step up diplomatic efforts, adopt creative ways, and actively press for the resumption of negotiations. China calls on all parties concerned to take a highly responsible and constructive attitude, exert necessary flexibility, and find a comprehensive, long-term and proper resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue through negotiations at an early date. China will continue to play a constructive role in this regard. |
