Ambassador Liu Xiaoming Appointed Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs

Ambassador Liu Xiaoming has recently taken up the role of Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs. Ambassador Liu is a veteran diplomat well-versed in Korean Peninsula affairs. Among his many posts throughout a rich career are Ambassador to Egypt, Vice Minister of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Leading Group of the CPC Central Committee, Ambassador to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Ambassador to the UK. As Special Representative, he will be mainly responsible for assisting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordinating Korean Peninsula affairs. He will maintain communication and cooperation with all relevant sides and play a constructive role in advancing the political settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue.
