On March 17, Ambassador Wang Min, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, chaired a Security Council meeting in the capacity of rotating President of the Security Council. The Council adopted unanimously resolution 1972 on Somalia and extended for 16 months Article 5 of resolution 1916 concerning exemption of humanitarian activities from sanctions provisions.
