Mme. Lu Hailin, Wife of China’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Li Baodong hosted a luncheon for the wives of permanent representatives of the Security Council member states at the Permanent Representative’s residence on 14 June. Mrs. Ban Soon-taek, wife of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, as well as the wives of permanent representatives of other Security Council member states who were in New York on that day attended the luncheon.

Mme. Lu extended cordial welcome to all the guests. She said that she was glad that the UN has a tradition according to which the wife of the rotating president of the Security Council hosts a luncheon for the wives of permanent representatives of the Security Council member states. She said that such a luncheon had provided a good opportunity for the wives of permanent representatives to renew friendship and meet with each other every month. She hoped that her friends could relax and enjoy the Chinese delicacy.

The luncheon ended on a friendly and joyous note. The guests expressed thanks to the Chinese host for the thoughtful arrangements and took a photo together.
