Wang Yi Met with Nepali Foreign Minister Mahendra Pandey

On September 27, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Nepali Foreign Minister Mahendra Pandey on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Wang Yi said that China and Nepal are friendly neighbors with adjoining mountains and waters. The Chinese side always supports Nepal in safeguarding independence and territorial integrity, supports the process toward peace and constitutionalization in Nepal and supports Nepal's economic and social development. China appreciates Nepal's firm support on issues relating to China's core interests. Together with the Nepali side, China will take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Nepal relations as an opportunity, carry out high-level interactions, deepen practical cooperation, expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges and lift China-Nepal comprehensive partnership of cooperation to a new high.

Pandey said that Nepal and China enjoy strong ties based on amity between the two peoples. China is the reliable friend of Nepal. The Nepali side stands firmly for China's core interests and major concerns. Next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Nepal and China. Bilateral relations have reached a new starting point. The Nepali side will work with the Chinese side to increase mutual trust, expand practical cooperation in trade, infrastructure, tourism and other fields, and seek new progress in bilateral relations.
