On September 27, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with German Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Wang Yi said that China-Germany relations have scored robust growth this year. The two sides should work on to ensure that China-Germany relations will always pioneer China-EU relations. The two sides should maintain high-level visits, cement strategic mutual trust, advance all-round cooperation, further tap into the economic complementarities of the two countries and promote cooperation in new industrialization. We should make it more convenient for personnel exchanges so as to encourage extensive interactions between people from all walks of life of the two countries. Steinmeier said that the steady growth of Germany-China relations is an important positive factor in a world of incessant conflicts. It is not only in the interests of bilateral cooperation in the coming years, but also world peace and economic growth. Both sides should maintain the sound momentum of bilateral relations and keep injecting new impetus into it. The two sides also had in-depth exchange of views on issues such as Ukraine, Iraq and the Iranian nuclear. Both agreed that China and Germany should work for comprehensive and proper political settlement of relevant issues with world peace and security in mind. |
