On February 23, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić of Serbia at the United Nations (UN) headquarters in New York.

Wang Yi expressed that you making a special trip to attend the UN Security Council (UNSC) open debate proposed by China showed Serbia's sense of mission and responsibility to maintain international peace and security and abide by the purposes of the UN Charter. The Chinese side hopes to join hands with the international community including Serbia to earnestly summarize the historical lessons and jointly usher in a better future of the world. The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Serbian side to further develop the bilateral relations. At present, the focus is to step up efforts for the implementation of the important consensus and results reached by Premier Li Keqiang during his visit to Serbia last year and speed up the mutually beneficial cooperation in transportation infrastructure and industries and other fields.

Ivica Dačić expressed that Serbia is a good friend of China and the bilateral relations have always maintained a good developmental momentum. It is a delight that Premier Li Keqiang made a successful visit to Serbia and held the meeting of the Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) last year. Both sides should continue to maintain close high-level exchanges, accelerate the implementation of the cooperation consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, and launch the Hungary-Serbia Railway and the land-sea express passage between Europe and China and other major cooperation projects as soon as possible, which have great significance to the future development of Serbia and other CEECs.
