The Chinese delegation highly appreciates the important contribution and the good results achieved by the Fund over the past 10 years.

This year, the global humanitarian response is faced with more formidable challenges in terms of resource and capacity. Through timely and flexible resource allocation, CERF has played a positive role in responding to humanitarian crises caused by natural disasters and armed conflicts and has actively contributed to the efforts to combat the Ebola outbreak.

China always pays great attention to its cooperation with OCHA. We have taken an active part in the work of CERF and supported OCHA in making use of CERF in its effort to provide humanitarian assistance. We hope that OCHA will continue to play a coordinating role, enhance partnerships and intensify fund raising so as to increase the fund of CERF. China will, as always, support the role of CERF as an international contingency fund and is willing to gradually increase its donation to the best of its ability. In 2015, China donated 500,000 US dollars to CERF. We will make further donations in 2016 with the specific amount to be approved by the National People's Congress as is required by the budget system of our government.
