Mr. President,

At the outset, I would like to congratulate you on your election as the President of 2015 United Nations Pledging Conference for Development Activities..

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has drawn a blueprint and The Addis Ababa Action Agenda has laid down a sound foundation for international cooperation for development in the future. At present, developing countries, especially those in special situations such as LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS are facing with complex and daunting developing challenges. Thus, the UN operational activities for development are playing an irreplaceable role in supporting developing countries with their development activities and capacity building. China hopes that member states, developed countries in particular, will actively donate to the UN’s operational activities for development and increase donations to the core resources.

China always supports and takes an active part in various technical support and cooperation activities carried out by the UN development system. We have been providing voluntary contribution to the best of our capability to the funds, programmes and agencies of the UN development system. In 2016, China will continue to make such donations .
