On February 7, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister Julie Bishop of Australia met the press together after jointly holding the fourth round of China-Australia Diplomatic and Strategic Dialogue in Canberra.

Wang Yi spoke highly of the China-Australia Diplomatic and Strategic Dialogue this time, stressing that facing the current international situation full of uncertainties, China and Australia both agreed to send a clear message to the world, that is, we should be committed to building an open world economy and steering the economic globalization towards greater inclusiveness and more shared benefits; we should firmly uphold the international trade system with the WTO at the core, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and take a firm stand against protectionism in all its forms. To this end, the two sides agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation on the international and regional stages.

Wang Yi said that we appreciate the prominent achievements since the implementation of the China-Australia free trade agreement over a year ago, and agree to promote the transformation and upgrading of the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, accelerate the transition from "mining boom" towards a more diversified and sustainable pattern of cooperation, and work together for the big story of "free trade prosperity".

We are willing to align the "Belt and Road" initiative with the "Northern Development" plan of Australia, and the innovation-driven development strategy with the National Innovation and Science Agenda of Australia, expand cooperation in energy resources, infrastructure, agriculture and animal husbandry and other fields, and give better play to the leading role of innovation,so as to continuously inject strong impetus into the practical cooperation between the two countries.

We agree to take the opportunity of "China-Australia Year of Tourism" to implement more reciprocal measures in visa facilitation to promote bilateral personnel exchanges. Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has just announced that Chinese citizens can apply for Australian visas online in Chinese, and I highly appreciate it. Last year, the number of Chinese nationals traveling to Australia reached a record high of 1.4 million, but it only accounts for about 1% of all outbound Chinese nationals in the last year, indicating that there is great space and potential for both countries to boost personnel exchanges. It is hoped that Australia can adopt more visa facilitation measures to promote personnel exchanges and to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, so as to reinforce the social and public opinion foundation of China-Australia relations. China supports Australia's "New Colombo Plan" and welcomes more young Australians to come to China for study and internship. Both sides can deepen exchanges and cooperation in fields such as culture, education, sports, youth and localities to write a new chapter of China-Australia friendship.

We positively evaluate the good momentum of China-Australia cooperation in judicial and law enforcement, and agree to step up efforts in anti-corruption, fugitive repatriation and asset recovery, anti-narcotics, anti-terrorism and other areas as well as jointly combat transnational crime.

China appreciates the Australia's consistent adherence to the one-China policy. The two sides agreed to continue consolidating the political foundation of bilateral relations based on mutual trust, mutual benefit, and respect for each other's core interests and major concerns.

Wang Yi noted that it is early autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. We look forward to working with Australia to prepare for the high-level exchanges between the two countries, promote China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnership to gain more results, and make new contributions to the mutual benefit, win-win results and common prosperity of countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
