On June 25, 2017 local time, President Mamnoon Hussain of Pakistan met in Islamabad with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was paying a visit to Pakistan. Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan and China are iron brothers, and Pakistan-China relations are a model of relations between nations. Pakistan thanks for China’s strong assistance for several years. Pakistan unswervingly supports China’s stance on issues concerning its core interests, and thanks Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s shuttle visits to Pakistan and Afghanistan this time, and the endeavor to improve Pakistan-Afghanistan relations. Pakistan always devotes itself to developing peaceful and friendly relations with neighboring countries and peacefully solving disputes through dialogues. The improvement of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations not only benefits the two countries, but contributes to the peaceful and stable development in the region. As a new member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Pakistan looks forward to enhancing cooperation with all parties, so as to jointly safeguard regional peace and stability. Wang Yi said that both China and Pakistan always share mutual respect, understanding and support, and both sides are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. No matter how the international landscape changes in last decades, China and Pakistan always stand together. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif led a delegation to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in China last month, and President Xi Jinping as well as Premier Li Keqiang respectively held bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, reaching important consensus on the further development of China-Pakistan relations. China is willing to jointly well implement the consensus with Pakistan, in a bid to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields for new progress. Wang Yi expressed that China congratulates Pakistan for becoming a full member of the SCO, and is willing to enhance cooperation within the SCO framework with Pakistan. Pakistan is an important partner of China in pushing forward the “Belt and Road” international cooperation, and China is willing to work with Pakistan to plan and well build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, to strive for more results. China appreciates Pakistan for clampdown on the violent terrorist group--the East Turkistan Islamic Movement. Wang Yi stated that one of the main purposes of my visits to Pakistan and Afghanistan at the invitation of both sides take is to promote sustainable improvement of bilateral relations and form common stance. The three sides published the press communiqué through friendly negotiations. Both Pakistan and Afghanistan have released good wills, showing determination of improving relations and jointly building trust, as well as sending out positive signals to the outside world. This is a key step of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, and the next key step is to effectively implement the press communiqué’s contents. As a friendly neighboring country of both countries, China is willing to continuously play a constructive role within its capacity. |
