On June 24, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Kabul with Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani of Afghanistan.

Wang Yi said that China and Afghanistan are traditional and friendly neighboring countries. China is willing to, together with Afghanistan, continuously support each other on issues concerning respective core interests and further deepen bilateral cooperation in anti-terrorism and security. China welcomes Afghanistan to actively participate in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", so as to open up new prospects for bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.

Wang Yi expressed that China firmly supports the "Afghan-led and Afghan-owned" inclusive political reconciliation process. The realization of domestic reconciliation in Afghanistan is the premise of re-construction. It is hoped that the Afghan government could firm up confidence in peace talks, overcome difficulties, well use various of mechanisms in promoting talks, and try to persuade all political forces who wish for peace talks to go back to negotiation table. China supports the revival of the Quadrilateral Coordination Group of Afghanistan, China, Pakistan and the US and supports the activation of the work of the liaison group between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Afghanistan, which will help create favorable environment for Afghanistan's reconciliation process.

Salahuddin Rabbani said that both countries are good friends and good neighbors. Afghanistan is willing to make joint efforts with China to earnestly implement outcomes achieved by the two heads of state at the Astana summit, and thanks China for its strong support in various fields. Afghanistan is ready to actively participate in the "Belt and Road" construction, enhance anti-terror cooperation and take firm actions to crack down on the violent and terrorism force--East Turkistan Islamic Movement.

Salahuddin Rabbani stated that Afghanistan appreciates China's constructive role in pushing forward the country's peace and reconciliation process and vows continuous efforts in this regard in whatever circumstances. The Kabul Process, as a mechanism proposed by the Afghan people, adheres to the "Afghan-led and Afghan-owned", hoping get supports from all countries in the region. Afghanistan supports to restart the Quadrilateral Coordination Group mechanism. China is a common friend of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Afghanistan appreciates the active role China has played in improving relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
