On August 6, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Julie Bishop of Australia on the sidelines of the series of Foreign Ministers' meetings on East Asia cooperation in Manila, the Philippines.

Wang Yi expressed that China regards Australia as an important member of the big Asia-Pacific family, and both countries should become long-term, stable and predictable cooperative partners. Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Australia this March achieved fruitful outcomes, injecting new impetus into the development of China-Australia relations. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-Australia diplomatic relations. On the basis of mutual respect and mutual trust, China is willing to, together with Australia, enhance dialogue and exchanges, and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, so as to ensure bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to constantly make new progress along the right track.

Julie Bishop expressed that Australia-China comprehensive strategic partnership enjoys sound development. Both sides are close cooperative partners in many fields. Recently, bilateral high-level exchanges are frequent, vigorously promoting bilateral relations to a new level. Attaching great importance to developing its relations with China, Australia will continuously commit to strengthening bilateral constructive cooperation and promoting the process of global trade liberalization.
