On August 6, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Anifah Aman of Malaysia on the sidelines of the series of Foreign Ministers' meetings on East Asia cooperation in Manila, the Philippines. Wang Yi said that China-Malaysia relations are in a great period. The joint construction of the "Belt and Road" is an important historical opportunity for the development of bilateral relations. Both sides confirmed a batch of cooperation projects, some of which have achieved initial results. Bilateral economic and trade cooperation enjoys a strong momentum, with China being Malaysia's largest trading partner for eight consecutive years. China will continuously encourage and support Chinese enterprises to invest and cooperate in Malaysia. Both sides should strengthen cooperation in defense, law enforcement and security. It is hoped that both sides could intensify coordination, push forward the smooth implementation of East Coast Rail Line and other major projects, expand mutual benefit and win-win results, and push China-Malaysia relations for greater development, in a bid to benefit the two peoples. Anifah Aman expressed that Malaysia appreciates and cherishes Malaysia-China friendship, and considers China as a close friend. Bilateral relations are of great importance to Malaysia and regional countries. The Malaysian side hopes to further intensify bilateral cooperation in various fields and properly handle issues encountered in bilateral exchanges. |
