On September 5, 2017, President Xi Jinping met with President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt in Xiamen.

Xi Jinping welcomed Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi to attend the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries in China. Xi Jinping pointed out that Egypt is a major Arab, African and Islamic developing country. In recent years, China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership has enjoyed accelerated development with political mutual trust being constantly enhanced, economic and trade cooperation being steadily advanced, major projects being gradually implemented, financial cooperation being smoothly conducted and people-to-people and cultural exchanges showcasing various highlights. The Chinese side will firmly support Egypt's efforts in safeguarding stability and speeding up development as always, and is willing to march forward hand in hand with Egypt on the road of respective reform and development and of realizing national rejuvenation, so as to push forward bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership for constant development.

Xi Jinping stressed that China attaches great importance to developing China-Egypt relations. Both sides should maintain close high-level exchanges, and support each other on issues concerning respective core interests. The two countries should integrate development strategies, and make use of the two great opportunities of infrastructure construction and production capacity to jointly forge Egypt a pillar country along the "Belt and Road". China will support Chinese enterprises to invest and establish business in Egypt, and stands ready to promote trade and investment facilitation with Egypt. Both sides should deepen cooperation in anti-terrorism and law-enforcement security, and strengthen coordination and collaboration in international and regional affairs.

Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi expressed that Egypt highly values Egypt-China comprehensive strategic partnership, and is gratified with the high-level development of bilateral relations. The country supports the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, and stands ready to integrate its own development strategies with this initiative, and enhance cooperation with China in investment, infrastructure and other fields. The Egyptian side appreciates China for holding the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries, and agrees that developing countries should enhance cooperation.

After the meeting, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents covering economic technology, transportation, law-enforcement security and other fields.
