Xi Jinping pointed out that the current China-Germany relations maintain a high-level development momentum. During my state visit to Germany and attendance at the G20 Hamburg Summit not long ago, I reached new consensus with Madam Chancellor on promoting China-Germany all-round strategic cooperation and enhancing communication and coordination in international affairs. The significance of bilateral cooperation has transcended the bilateral boundary, playing a more and more important role in safeguarding world peace, stability and boosting common development. China is willing to join hands with Germany to continue its cooperation within multilateral frameworks.

Angela Merkel expressed that President Xi Jinping’s state visit in July was very successful, being of great significance in the development of bilateral relations. Exchanges in various fields such as politics, economy, trade and people-to-people and cultural engagement between both countries are increasingly cementing. Germany hopes to maintain communication and coordination with China on major international and regional hotspot issues.

The two heads of state exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula situation. Xi Jinping stressed that China adheres to the goal of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, and firmly safeguards the international nuclear non-proliferation regime as well as peace and stability in Northeast Asia. Facts have proved again and again that the Korean Peninsula issue will be only solved through peaceful manners including dialogue and negotiation, which requires common efforts of the international community.

Angela Merkel said that Germany supports to peacefully solve the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula through political ways and agrees to bring all parties concerned back to the track of dialogue and negotiation. Germany is ready to enhance communication and coordination with China to strive for a peaceful solution to the Korean nuclear issue at an early date.
