On November 3, 2017, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam met in Hanoi with Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated on the complete success of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and on further establishment of General Secretary Xi Jinping's core position in the CPC. Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed that both Vietnam and China are socialist countries led by the Communist Party. Vietnam is truly happy for great results achieved by the 19th CPC National Congress, and stands ready to unswervingly stride forward along the socialist road with China. The consolidation of Vietnam-China traditional friendship and the deepening of cooperation in various fields conform to the fundamental interests of the two peoples, and no force can undermine the development of bilateral relations. Vietnam will make preparation with all efforts to ensure General Secretary and President Xi Jinping's upcoming state visit to the country a complete success. Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated that Vietnam is willing to actively support and participate in the "Belt and Road" construction, promote the docking of "Two Corridors, One Economic Circle" with the "Belt and Road", and expand bilateral practical cooperation, so as to inject new impetus into relations between the two parties and both countries.
Wang Yi thanked Nguyen Xuan Phuc for his congratulation to the 19th CPC National Congress, and said that both China and Vietnam are socialist countries. Either China or Vietnam has made progress in its own development will be the growing of socialist force. The two parties and the two countries should further strengthen confidence, and promote the cause of socialism in the 21st century to show its vigorous vitality by following the development path that suitable to their own national conditions. Wang Yi expressed that the 19th CPC National Congress clearly points out that development is still the CPC's top priority in governing and rejuvenating the country. We have put forward new ideas and made new arrangements for future development on the basis of historic achievements since the 18th CPC National Congress, in a bid to strive to move China's economy from a high growth stage to a high-quality development stage. This transformation is in line with the new requirements of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and it is also conducive to advancing China-Vietnam economic and trade cooperation to a higher quality and better benefit. The joint construction of the "Belt and Road" between both countries will create major opportunities for bilateral practical cooperation. It is hoped that both sides to take this as an opportunity to speed up the realization of common development and common prosperity between the two countries. China thanks the high importance attached by Vietnam to General Secretary and President Xi Jinping's visit to Vietnam, believing the visit will surely reach expected goals and achieve fruitful results under joint efforts of both sides.
