On October 25, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Carbrisas Ruiz of Cuba in Beijing.

Wang Yi expressed that China and Cuba enjoy unbreakable friendship as good friends and good comrades. The Chinese people firmly support the Cuban people's just cause to safeguard national sovereignty and oppose external interference, and support Cuba in exploring a development path suitable to its national conditions. The Chinese side congratulates the Cuban side on its recent completion of major domestic political agendas and also on the fact that the cause of its revolution and construction has entered a new era. It is believed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Cuban government, the Cuban people will surely make constant and new achievements in national development. The Chinese side will, as always, provide assistance within its capacity for the Cuban side, and is willing to strengthen all-round cooperation with the Cuban side.

Ricardo Carbrisas Ruiz expressed that the Cuban people appreciate China's great and long-term support for the cause of the national construction of Cuba. The Cuban side firmly commits to developing relations with China as good comrades, good friends and good partners, and stands ready to actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
