Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia

On May 15, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Keqiang noted that both China and Armenia are ancient civilizations with a long history. Armenia is China’s important cooperative partner in Eurasia. Yesterday, President Xi Jinping held a warm and friendly meeting with Mr. Prime Minister. The Chinese side has always viewed China-Armenia relations from a long-term perspective, and is willing to continuously consolidate bilateral political mutual trust and strengthen the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the development strategy of the Armenian side on the basis of mutual respect, equal treatment, as well as mutual benefit and win-win results. The Chinese side supports Chinese enterprises in negotiating with the Armenian side on cooperation matters, and stands ready to expand import of high-quality agricultural products from Armenia, leverage complementarity of the two sides, and strengthen technological cooperation. The Chinese side hopes to see peace and stability in Transcaucasia, and stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination on international affairs with the Armenian side.

Nikol Pashinyan expressed that the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations is a crucial initiative, which provides an important opportunity for various parties to discuss ways to boost civilizations. Since Armenia and China share lots of common interests, the Armenian side stands ready to uphold the ancient Silk Road spirit, actively take part in the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative, and advance bilateral cooperation to continuously reinvigorate Armenia-China relations.
