Li Keqiang Meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn of Cambodia

On the afternoon of May 31, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn of Cambodia at Ziguangge of Zhongnanhai.

Hailing the profound China-Cambodia traditional friendship, Li Keqiang said that the two countries have always respected each other, cooperated on an equal footing, and remained committed to developing economy and improving people's livelihood to realize common development. The Chinese side supports the Cambodian side in choosing a development path in accordance with its national situation. The Chinese side stands ready to enhance the synergy of development strategies with the Cambodian side, promote practical cooperation in key areas and jointly build a China-Cambodia community with a shared future, so as to ensure the development of China-Cambodia relations can better benefit the two peoples. The Chinese side is willing to intensify coordination and cooperation with the Cambodian side under the frameworks of China-Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and forge ahead with negotiations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, so as to safeguard a stable environment for the development in the region. The Chinese side supports the Cambodian side in well hosting the Asia-Europe Meeting in 2020, in a bid to play a constructive role in advancing world peace, stability and development.

Prak Sokhonn said Cambodia-China relations enjoy sound and stable development for a long time. Appreciating the Chinese side's long-term assistance, the Cambodian side is willing to further intensify high-level exchanges, deepen mutual support and coordination on international and regional issues, promote the building of a Cambodia-China community with a shared future and propel bilateral relations for even better development.
