On August 6, 2019, President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolence to President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt over the terrorist attack in Cairo, Egypt.

Xi Jinping said in the message, I am shocked to learn about the severe terrorist attack in Cairo, capital of Egypt, which caused heavy casualties. On behalf the Chinese government and the Chinese people as well as in my own name, I therefore extend profound condolences to the victims and sincere sympathy to the injured and the families of the victims, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery. The Chinese side firmly opposes all forms of terrorism and strongly condemns this terrorist attack. The Chinese side firmly supports the Egyptian side's efforts in safeguarding its national security and stability and fighting against terrorism.
