On February 4, 2022, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who came to China for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Wang Yi said, today is the Beginning of Spring in the lunar calendar, symbolizing that spring returns to the earth and everything comes back to life. We welcome Princess Sirindhorn to China for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. You are an old friend and good friend of the Chinese people, and even symbolize that China and Thailand are as close as family. China highly appreciates the Thai royal family's adherence to the friendly policy towards China and is ready to work with the Thai side to make China-Thailand relations better and closer.

Sirindhorn said, Thailand thanks China for its strong support for Thailand's fight against the pandemic, and Thailand highly values Thailand-China exchanges and cooperation in various fields. I have visited China nearly 50 times, and plan to publish a new book to introduce the history and achievements of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Thailand. I have visited and will continue to visit various parts of China for further in-depth study to this end.

Wang Yi said, in the face of the once-in-a-century pandemic, China and Thailand have stood together to tide over difficulties. China is the first country to provide vaccines to Thailand and Thailand's biggest vaccine provider. China earnestly honors its commitment to making vaccines a global public good and has offered over 2.1 billion vaccines to various countries, especially developing countries. One in every two doses of vaccine currently administered in the world is made in China. China is willing to continue to provide support according to Thailand's needs until the country completely prevails over the pandemic.

Wang Yi appreciated Sirindhorn's intention to compile and publish the book on the CPC and China's new development achievements. He said that to understand China, one must understand the CPC first. By recognizing the flesh-and-blood bond between the CPC and the Chinese people, one can see clearly the bright prospects of China's future. Wang Yi presented Sirindhorn with books and picture albums on the history of the CPC.

The two sides said that the two countries will continue to strengthen practical cooperation in education and culture, youth exchanges, traditional medicine, scientific and technological innovation, and other fields, so as to inject sustained impetus into bilateral relations and cultivate more successors for the China-Thailand friendship.
