2022-03-27 23:55

On March 27, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda in Katmandu.

Wang appreciated Prachanda's long-term contributions to developing China-Nepal relations and promoting inter-party exchanges, saying China cherishes its generations of friendship with Nepal. China's friendly policy towards Nepal is for all Nepali people and has maintained continuity and stability. We are glad to see that Nepal's friendship with China has always been a consensus transcending all parties in Nepal and enjoys a solid social foundation. No matter how the situation changes or what challenges we encounter, China's friendship with Nepal will not change, and China's investment in Nepal will not decrease. China is ready to work with Nepal to implement the outcomes of President Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal and push for new progress in cooperation across the board. At present, the international situation is turbulent and volatile, and non-peace factors are on the rise. We should be vigilant against the resurgence of the Cold War mentality and chaos in the region and jointly safeguard the good situation of regional peace, stability and development.

Prachanda congratulated China on successfully hosting the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 despite the pandemic. He said that Nepal and China are connected by mountains and rivers and enjoy traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the two countries have maintained close exchanges and sound cooperation. He thanked China for its strong support for Nepal's economic and social development, disaster resistance and COVID-19 response, and expressed readiness to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and accelerate Belt and Road cooperation, especially connectivity and infrastructure projects. Nepal will continue to adhere to the one-China principle and never allow any force to use its territory to engage in activities undermining China. This position has never wavered and will never waver.

Wang Yi appreciated Nepal's understanding and support for China's legitimate propositions, saying that China also supports Nepal in safeguarding sovereignty and national dignity and adhering to independent domestic and foreign policies, and is willing to work with Nepal to safeguard China-Nepal friendship and regional peace.
