On June 3, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Foreign Minister of Papua New Guinea Soroi Eoe jointly met the press in Port Moresby. Upon request, Wang Yi introduced his general feelings and outcomes of his trip to South Pacific Island Countries.

Wang Yi said, during his trip to South Pacific Island Countries, he met and held talks with 17 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) leaders and more than 30 ministerial officials through such ways as face-to-face way, "virtual visit", and video link, and co-chaired the second China-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting with the Prime Minister of Fiji. Among the 10 Pacific Island Countries having diplomatic ties with China, not a single one is left behind. China practices the diplomatic principle of equality among all countries regardless of their size with practical actions, and has deeply felt the high enthusiasm and strong expectation of PICs for developing cooperation with China.

Wang Yi said, during his visit, China and PICs signed and reached 52 bilateral cooperation outcomes, covering 15 cooperation areas, including Belt and Road cooperation, climate change, pandemic response, disaster prevention and mitigation, green development, medical and health care, agriculture, trade, and tourism and at the sub-national level. Each cooperation document stands as a testament to the solid progress of practical cooperation between China and PICs, injecting new impetus into the economic development and improvement of people's livelihood of PICs.

Wang Yi said that China has also issued a Position Paper, which focuses on the vision of mutual respect and common development between China and the PICs having diplomatic ties with China, and puts forward 15 principles and initiatives and 24 specific measures, including building six regional cooperation centers for dealing with climate change, poverty alleviation and development, disaster prevention and mitigation, agricultural promotion, Juncao technology and reserve of emergency supplies according to the development needs of PICs. The cooperation between China and PICs will show a vibrant situation of "two-wheel driving" with bilateral cooperation as the main channel and multilateral cooperation as the new platform.
