Wang Yi Holds Talks with Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah

On July 12, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah in Kuala Lumpur.

Saifuddin said, China and Malaysia enjoy time-honored friendship, high-level mutual trust, and strong and vigorous cooperation. He thanked brotherly China's strong support for the Malaysian side in fighting the pandemic, saying that China has demonstrated "the friend indeed is a friend in need" with concrete actions. The Malaysian side is ready to work with the Chinese side to maintain high-level interactions, seek greater synergy between development strategies, strengthen connectivity, advance landmark projects of the Belt and Road cooperation at a faster pace, and expand cooperation on innovation, so as to achieve leapfrog development.

Wang Yi said, carrying forward the friendship which has lasted for over a thousand years, China and Malaysia have established solid mutual trust and become sincere partners for win-win cooperation. In the next two years, the two sides will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Bilateral relations are presented with new development opportunities. During this visit, the Chinese side deeply felt Malaysia's profound friendship with China and ardent desire to deepen bilateral cooperation. China stands ready to jointly push bilateral relations to make further progress at the important historical juncture.

Saifuddin said, the vision of a "World Family" advocated by Malaysia is highly consistent with the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind advocated by China. The Malaysian side highly appreciates the Global Development Initiative (GDI) proposed by President Xi Jinping. The GDI has injected strong impetus into developing countries' efforts to accelerate the realization of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Malaysian side admires the Community Party of China (CPC) for bringing huge benefits to the Chinese people by upholding the people-centered philosophy, and hopes to learn from China's development experience. He wishes the 20th National Congress of the CPC a complete success. Malaysia subscribes to advancing multi-polarity in the world, opposes interference in other countries' internal affairs under the pretext of human rights, and appreciates the fact that China has always treated small and medium-sized countries as equals. Malaysia welcomes China's development and growth, and will work with China to boost the strengths of Asia, and jointly promote open and inclusive regional cooperation.

Wang Yi said, in the face of the uncertain, unstable and insecure international situation, China is ready to strengthen strategic communication and coordination with Malaysia, jointly safeguard respective legitimate rights and interests, and at the same time, provide more positive energy and make more new contributions to world peace and stability. The CPC is committed to seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. The endeavors have won extensive support. China is ready to enhance inter-party exchanges, and learn from and draw on the experience of each other, so as to improve respective governing capacity and level and contribute Oriental wisdom to global governance. China has the best record among major countries in terms of peace and security, and is willing to share development opportunities with neighboring countries to speed up common development and revitalization.

Both sides agreed to continue implementing the outcomes of the First China-Malaysia High Level Committee Meeting, and constantly deepen practical cooperation in various fields.

The two sides will strengthen anti-pandemic cooperation and help Malaysia forge a regional vaccine production center.

The two sides will push for more outcomes of "Two Countries, Twin Parks", advance high-quality development of the East Coast Railway project, and explore the way to forge a north-south corridor across the Eurasian continent.

The two sides will expand cooperation in industries such as digital telecommunications, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, new energy as well as low-carbon and environmental protection.

The two sides will work together to promote the stability of industrial and supply chains, strengthen cooperation on agriculture and food security, and enhance crisis-response capabilities.

The two sides will advance the development of China-ASEAN relations and push for the implementation of the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind in neighboring countries, and properly build a common home.

After the talks, the two foreign ministers attended the signing ceremony of cooperation documents on radio, film, television and meteorology, among others.
