Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Michael Moussa-Adamo of Gabon

On September 24, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Gabonese Foreign Minister Michael Moussa-Adamo on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Wang Yi said, Gabon is a good friend of China in Africa. The two countries have always held sincerity and friendly feelings with each other, treated each other as equals, achieved win-win cooperation and common development, and forged a profound friendship, and the comprehensive cooperative partnership continues to consolidate and develop. The Chinese side stands ready to work with the Gabonese side to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, so as to help Gabon accelerate its development and revitalization and bring more benefits to the Gabonese people.

Wang Yi said, China has always stood that all countries, big and small, are equals and always stood on the side of developing countries and African countries, and will continue to deliver tangible results for African partners, and develop and revitalize together with African brothers and sisters. Congratulations to Gabon on assuming the rotating presidency of the Security Council next month. China is ready to strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs, jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, and uphold the basic principle of international relations of non-interference in internal affairs.

Moussa said that Gabon and China enjoy a time-honored friendship, and mutually beneficial cooperation has yielded fruitful outcomes. China is Gabon's largest economic and trade partner. China has helped Gabon improve its infrastructure, and taken the lead in supporting Gabon's response to the pandemic. Chinese enterprises have made important contributions to Gabon's economic development, which the Gabonese government and people will never forget. Gabon is also China's reliable partner, and will continue to firmly abide by the one-China principle, and oppose politicizing human rights. Gabon stands ready to strengthen the synergy between the Emerging Gabon Strategic Plan and the Belt and Road Initiative, to diversify the country's economy.
