On November 6, 2022, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Madagascar’s President Andry Nirina Rajoelina on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

President Xi Jinping noted that over the past five decades since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China-Madagascar relations have maintained sound and steady growth, no matter how the international landscape has evolved. In recent years, the two countries have established a comprehensive cooperative partnership, with increasing political mutual trust and fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Noting the great importance he attaches to the development of China-Madagascar relations, Xi said he is ready to work with President Rajoelina to take the anniversary as an opportunity to  continuously upgrade friendship and cooperation between the two countries to the benefit of the two countries and peoples.

Rajoelina said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago, Madagascar and China have deepened friendship and cooperation in various fields, which has yielded fruitful results. Sincerity, friendship, mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual support have become prominent features of the Madagascar-China comprehensive cooperative partnership. Madagascar stands ready to work with China to build an even closer Madagascar-China community with a shared future.
