The Second Working Group Meeting of the Six-party Talks Opened

On 21 June,the Second Working Group Meeting of the Six-party Talks was opened at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Beijing. Mr. Ning Fukui, Ambassador for Korean Peninsula Issue of China's Foreign Ministry, led the Chinese working group and presided over the meeting. Other delegations were respectively headed by Li Gun, Deputy Director-General of the American Department of the DPRK's Foreign Ministry, Saiki Akitaka, Deputy Director-General of the Asian and Oceanic Affairs Bureau of Japan's Foreign Ministry, Cho Tae-yong, Director-General of the Taskforce on the North Korea Nuclear Issue of the ROK's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, V. Sukhinin, Deputy Director of the First Asian Department of Russian Foreign Ministry and Joseph R. DeTrani, Special Envoy for Negotiations with North Korea of the US Department of State.

On the basis of the first Working Group Meeting, this meeting will continue to conduct in-depth exchange of views on how to resolve the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula and make preparations for the Third Round of the Six-Party Talks. It is scheduled to close on 22 June.
