Chinese Delegation Holds Pre-Meeting Bilateral Consultations with the Other Parties of the Six-Party Talks

On the afternoon of June 22 and the morning of June 23, head of the Chinese delegation to the third round of the six-party talks and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi held pre-meeting bilateral consultations respectively with head of the Russian delegation and special envoy of the Russian foreign ministry Alexeyev, head of the ROK delegation and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of ROK Lee Soo-Hyuck, head of the DPRK delegation and Deputy Foreign Minister of the DPRK Kim Kye-gwan, head of the US delegation and US Assistant Secretary of State James Kelly, and head of the Japanese delegation and Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Japanese Foreign Ministry Yabunaka, and exchanged in-depth views with them on how to make the talks successful, cement achievements, expand consensus and strive to reach principled consensus on such substantive issues as the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the launching of the process of denuclearization. All the parties made positive comments on the active efforts made China to prepare for the third round of talks and promote and peace talk process, saying that they will show flexibility in the talks so as to push the third round of talks towards progress.
