On July 27, 2005, the fourth round of the Six-Party Talks on the Korean Peninsular nuclear issue held the first plenary session in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Beijing. All the related parties expounded their positions on how to build a nuclear-free Korean Peninsular and raised suggestions and ideas.

All the parties reiterated adherence to the goal of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsular and peaceful solution of the nuclear issue on the Peninsular through dialogue and agreed to continue conducting in-depth and comprehensive consultations, carefully consider the concerns and positions of other related parties and jointly push for positive progress of the this round of Talks on the basis of the achievements of the past three rounds of Talks.

Wu Dawei, chief of the Chinese delegation, said in his speech that after a series of bilateral contacts the six parties have exchanged in-depth opinions frankly and enhanced mutual understanding. The Six-Party Talks itself is a process of seeking common ground while putting aside differences, closing the rift, accumulating knowledge and building peace. He pointed out that we face challenges but more importantly rare opportunities. We should demonstrate the maximum political courage, seize the opportunity, cope with the challenges and jointly open a brighter future for Northeast Asia.

Following the plenary session, the delegations continue holding bilateral consultations.
