On the afternoon of September 15, 2005, the second phase of the fourth round of six-party talks in Beijing held the second meeting of the chief negotiators.

The chief negotiators of the six parties, on the basis of their bilateral contacts over the past several days, further expounded their respective position and proposition on how to realize the goal of denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula. Major differences on some issues still exist.

To solve the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue peacefully complies with the interest of all parties concerned and is conducive to peace, stability and development in Northeast Asia, which is a common consensus reached by the six parties, noted chairman of the meeting and head of the Chinese delegation Wu Dawei. With the joint efforts of the government, leaders and delegation of the six countries, a series of common consensuses have been reached, which deserves to be cherished. Currently we do have difficulties, but we should realize that those are difficulties in the road ahead and we are capable of overcoming them, added he. He expressed hope that all the six parties can proceed from the general situation of peace, security and development to continue making constructive efforts to pave the way for the denuclearization of the Peninsula.
