Foreign, Hong Kong and Macao Reporters Follow Closely the Emergency Assistance Offered by the Chinese Government to Disaster-Stricken Countries and the Non-for-Profit Performance for Disaster Relief

On December 28 and 30, 2004 and January 2, 3 and 7, 2005, Beijing-based foreign, Hong Kong and Macao reporters, with the help of the International Press Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, went to the Capital International Airport 5 times to cover the departure of the relief materials provided by the Chinese government to the tsunami-hit countries along the Indian Ocean, China International Search and Rescue Team and Chinese Medical Assistance Team. Reporters interviewed the officials from the Ministry of Commerce, China Earthquake Administration, the Ministry of Public Health and some members of the two teams.

On January 6, reporters covered the large-scale non-for-profit performance for disaster relief hosted by the Red Cross Society of China, China Charity Federation and other organizations.

81 Reporters (person-times) in 6 groups from 23 media agencies such as the Associated Press, Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and APTN, TVB of Hong Kong, Cable TV of Hong Kong, ATV of Hong Kong, Phoenix TV participated in the interview.
