Ambassador Li Baodong, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, met with UN Under-Secretary-General-in-waiting Jan Eliasson on 4 June.

Ambassador Li congratulated Mr. Eliasson on assuming the position of the UN Under-Secretary-General soon and said that China would fully support his work. Mr. Eliasson spoke highly of China’s role in international affairs and stressed his willingness to continue promoting UN’s cooperation with China

They also exchanged views on the international economic situation, preparations for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development and other issues.
