On June 15, based on the consensus reached among members of the Security Council, Ambassador Li Baodong, President of the Security Council for the month of June and China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, made a Security Council President’s press statement on the DRC.

Ambassador Li said that the members of the Security Council were deeply concerned about the situation in north and south Kivus, and strongly condemned the mutiny of officers and soldiers formerly integrated into the armed forces of the DRC. He said that the members of the Security Council strongly condemned the killing and abuse of civilians by armed groups, supported the efforts of the Congolese government to demobilize armed groups, and called upon all the countries in the region to cooperate with the Congolese authorities in this regard.
