According to the consensus reached among Security Council members, Ambassador Li Baodong, President of the UN Security Council for the month of June and China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, issued a press statement of the Security Council President on 15 June.

Ambassador Li stated that the Security Council members were greatly concerned over the developments in Northern Kivu and Southern Kivu and strongly condemned the mutiny of former government forces. He said Secuirty Council members strongly condemed the killing of civlians by armed groups, expressed support for the effort of the Congolese government to demobilize armed groups and called upon countries in the region to cooperate with the Congolese government.
